@CTmagazine hope for the church? True obedience to the head pf the church. Jesus Christ is head of THE CHURCH or it isn't THE CHURCH.

My hope for the church is that we would begin to return to a sense of the Holy Spirit, that, as Flannery O'Connor says, we could again believe at least that God has the power to do certain things. To return to this sense would mean that we would avail ourselves of the means of grace, most especially the grace offered to us in Holy Communion, believing that through the grace found there, God has the power to use us for mercy, justice, and peace in the world.

I hope the church is known for being a people who will do the right thing when it's popular and when it's unpopular...when it's appreciated and when it's denounced. I hope the church is known for being a people of unusual kindness who will go out of their way to care for unwanted children, the elderly, the disabled, the lonely, the disgraced, and those who oppose them for their loyalty to Christ. I hope the church will be a people who are humble enough to do the right thing and to show unusual kindness without seeking the attention of others, who will act without fanfare or expectation of being noticed. I hope the church will be more concerned about Christ's reputation and approval than their own reputation and the approval of others.

My hope for today's church is that it reconnects with and rediscovers its glorious Hebrew/Jewish/Israeli roots in Yeshua Ha Mashiach while simultaneously embracing our Jewish brothers and sisters globally. Shalom.
