I pray the church will be a people in whom Christ dwells, a people that follows Jesus and a people who gather in a place where God is worshiped, the gospel is declared, and where the gifts of God flow with Spirit-driven energy.

My hope for the church is that she would have a heaven-sent, earth-shattering revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ in all of His glory, centrality, supremacy and all-sufficiency and that by such a revelation He might be restored to His rightful place in the Church as her only Foundation, Identity, Center and Head. He alone is our Hope for all that we hope for is in Him!

My hope is that we could truly see Jesus as the vision for the Church follow Him as the Head of the Church, hear Him above the din as the Great Shepherd of the Church, love Him as the Bridegroom of the Church and begin the see the Body as a living organism above the organizations that we tend to default to. I want Jesus to be Enough for me and for my brothers and sisters who want to follow Him 24/7 in life as the main event.

that we would get out of our fliipin' building, OUT of the classroom - one teacher, many students mentality - AND GO!! GO use all that stuff you spent years learning! GO be the needed light of Jesus in all the dark places of this world! That we would build MUCH healthier small communities/ home churches where we know and are known - authentic love :-) ; and where we do mission together. That we start to look and act like Jesus and not consumeristic / feed me/ fix me people. That we would quit pouring all our money into buildings -- QUIT BUILDING with cement, and start building the kingdom by pouring our money and energy into the poor, the outcast, the marginalized people in our own cities, as well as the world.

Where there is no vision people perish. The people who are saved by the vision must have a mission. A church which has no mission will be stagnated. A vision of missions gives new life to the dead and fills the church with new souls. There is no hope for the church(universal) without a vision and a mission.

To be truly global, missional, and focused on finishing the Great Commission by practicing and expressing the Great Commandment, without compromising the Great Commencement.

All of the above. I have had pointed out to me in very clear, abusive terms, by someone who is disappointed in us just how shallow and hypocritical we are. My own church turned away a man asking for food, for instance, b/c he was mentally ill and acted out mildly. Another instance was that a woman refused to shake hands with another woman b/c she was gay.
I'm very, very ashamed, especially knowing these are probably the tip of an elitist, exclusivist iceberg. What can I do to change it? Talk to our rector? I am planning to do that. Pray? I do that. Talk to the vestry, the outreach committee, the so-called pastoral care committee? Not one of those people even came to me when my husband died. Why am I still there?
I have some good friends, and I mean they are GOOD people. But our church is dying, and I think this is the reason. There is not love. This is a lukewarm group as a whole The rector is new, is trying hard, but she is just one person and I know she meets resistance all over the place.
My hope is right now buried in cynicism. You all talk a good game, but can you say your churches welcome everyone? Love everyone equally? We are not perfect, but do we even try?

My hope for the church is be united, one with Christ. For Jews and Christians alike to become one under our LORD JESUS CHRIST. For the church to follow Christ teachings and her members live the faith as Christ wants us to live. That the church changes from a political to a religious union with CHRIST, in that they become one with Christ.
